Blessings, Namaste, Sat Sri Akal! I have been a practitioner of yoga, ayurveda, pranayama (breathing), mindfulness, permaculture, sustainability and healing through food for 22 years. I have integrated these teachings in our family and share these teachings with others that are seeking healing in a truthful way. I have experience with guiding my children through their own healing journeys. I meet everyone where they are in their journey and customize experiences based on everyone's own goal.
My family and I moved to San Juanillo, Costa Rica to create Costa Rica's first Ayurvedic Center or En Light's gurukula (traditional yoga school in which students learn from their teacher by living together and experiencing life). We have created a kitchen dedicated to the ayurvedic cooking programs so that our students gain hands on experience in the preparation of balancing meals. We offer programming for kids and adults. Please contact us if you wish to start your healing and educational journey in Costa Rica.

Sharing Engaging and Profound Experiences
En Light is a sister collaboration founded in October 2015 by Sonia Kaur, a Therapeutic Yoga Counselor, and Neelam Singh, a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor. We started En Light because we recognized that Yoga & Ayurveda has so much more to offer than what was currently being offered in the West through “Yoga”. Understanding the ability of these other fundamental principles of Yoga & Ayurveda to offer additional guidance on well-being and transformation, we wanted to offer experiences that are richer, fuller, authentic and empowering.
Much of Western Yoga emphasizes the benefits of asanas (or yoga postures) on the body, mind and spirit, without delving deeper into other fundamental principles of Yoga & Ayurveda. Historically, Yoga & Ayurveda have always been practiced together, and Yoga was not limited to asana practice. Rather, it incorporated other aspects including pranayama (breath control), meditation, diet, Yogic philosophy and lifestyle choices. Respecting the intimate and ancestral connection between Yoga and Ayurveda, En Light's mission is to bring Yoga back to its roots. By adopting an integrative approach applying principles from both Yoga & Ayurveda, we seek to empower you with tools to maximize your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being through retreats, workshops, private consultations, classes, educational programming and other contemplative activities.
As children of Asian-Indian immigrants, our household incorporated many elements from Yoga and Ayurveda. However, it was not until later in our lives, when we were dealing with health issues, that we truly realized the power and benefits of Ayurveda and Yoga in our personal lives and the lives of our loved ones. Since then, we have embraced our ancestral wisdom with devotion, love, and gratitude. We truly believe in living by example. We do not view ourselves as simply teaching Ayurveda and Yoga, but humbly living and practicing these authentic teachings in our modern ways of living. We have both recognized that is now part of our journey to share these teachings with you.
Let love and intuition be your guide.

Certified Ayurverda Health Counselor
Namaste and blessings, I am a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor. I am based in Brooklyn, New York although I have strong ties to Costa Rica and visit there frequently.
I was raised in an Indian household that incorporated many aspects of Yoga and Ayurveda including using herb, plant and food-based remedies to address health issues. From an early age, I understood the deep and intimate connection between food and wellness in all of its forms — mind, emotional, heart, physical and spiritual wellness.
I have been an intentional and conscious eater for most of my life, starting with me turning vegetarian in 2003. As my journey continued, I have acquired more understanding of cooking medicinally - with intention and purpose - and Ayurvedically - to restore balance, heal and detoxify. This has also empowered me to address health issues first with food, teas, herbs, rest, meditation and breathing rather than immediately turning to allopathic medicine which may alleviate the symptoms, but mask the root of the issue. After turning to Ayurveda for healing after facing health complications in 2012, I realized that it was part of my journey to share the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga because the power to heal, recenter, restore balance, detoxify, expand or elevate your consciousness is too beautiful to not share.
I decided to formalize my Ayurvedic knowledge by becoming a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor in 2015. I have a practice in New York City where I work with clients in assessing their mind-body constitution make-up, identifying any imbalances and working with them to restore balance through diet, herbs, meditation, yoga, pranayama and other lifestyle changes. I host a variety of workshops that share principles of Yoga and Ayurveda and how they can benefit or enhance your life.
Since completing my program in 2015, I have received additional certifications in Pulse Analysis, Tongue Analysis, Marma Therapy and Ayurvedic Herbal Formulations. I also spent a few months working with clients in an Ayurvedic wellness center in Kerala, India.
